In 2022, we were living in a small Amsterdam apartment — but dreaming of long New Zealand summers.
The laid-back pace. Bare feet. Evenings that spilled outdoors.
We weren’t ready to move home for good, but we wanted to start preparing. So we bought land in New Zealand and built a small, carefully designed micro-bach — a place that became our summer home for a few months each year.
Living small taught us something important: good design matters far more than size.
Over time, that micro-bach became a way to explore what makes a small dwelling feel generous, calm, and deeply liveable — not just for holidays, but for everyday life.
When we eventually returned to New Zealand full-time, it became clear that many people were craving the same thing — not oversized beach houses, but modest, well-designed spaces with seamless indoor-outdoor flow.
